Brian Vickers was hospitalized on Wednesday night for undisclosed medical reasons and will not be racing at Dover this weekend. Red Bull Racing has announced Casey Mears will be taking over driving duties for the #83 car. Vickers is currently 20th in the standings, 160 points behind 12th-place Dale Jr and 464 from points leader, Kevin Harvick.
From an article on Yahoo:
“It is unfortunate that I will not be able to participate in the Dover race,” Vickers said in a statement. “Casey is a good friend of mine, and I know he will do his best for the No. 83 team this weekend.
Red Bull general manager Jay Frye called Vickers’ illness a “minor setback.”
“Our main concern right now is with Brian and his health and recovery,” Frye said. “All things are looking good at the moment, this is just a minor setback. We appreciate Casey filling in this weekend and know he will represent the team well.”
While trying to track down a good image of Brian Vickers, I came across a couple pics of him hanging out with SpeedTV’s supercross pit reporter, Erin Bates. Not sure if they’re an item or still together but not a bad pick-up for the Ginger. I’ve been meaning to put together Ladies of Nascar gallery, maybe this weekend…probably not.
