Gang Starr Rapper Dies of Cancer…

New York-born MC Guru has died at age 43 after a battle with cancer, according to a number of media reports.
Guru, whose real name was Keith Elam, had been in a coma since March.
The rapper was best known for his Gang Starr partnership with DJ Premier in the 1990s and 2000s. In recent years Guru had been touring and collaborating with producer Solar.

    yeah, bummer. i read that him and premier never squashed whatever beef was between them. here’s part of a statement, apparently written by guru before he died but a lot of people are questioning it’s validity…

    “I do not wish my ex-DJ to have anything to do with my name likeness, events tributes etc. connected in anyway to my situation including any use of my name or circumstance for any reason and I have instructed my lawyers to enforce this. I had nothing to do with him in life for over 7 years and want nothing to do with him in death. Solar has my life story and is well informed on my family situation, as well as the real reason for separating from my ex-DJ. As the sole founder of GangStarr, I am very proud of what GangStarr has meant to the music world and fans.”

    Yeah, shit gets heated between these rapper fellows. Hopefully he’s really not dead and is just chillen with 2Pac on some island somewhere.
