Kasey Kahne Signs Multi-year Deal With Hendrick Motorsports

According to a report by ESPN’s Marty Smith, Kasey Kahne has signed a multi-year agreement to join Hendrick Motorsports in 2011. However, this raises the question of how HMS will manage a stable of 5 drivers with only 4 rides. Jeff Gordon has a lifetime contract with Hendrick, Jimmie Johnson just signed an extension through 2015, Dale Jr. is in the 3rd year of a 5-year deal and Mark Martin is signed through 2011.

Fox News is now reporting Kahne will spend the 2011 season racing in a third car for Stewart-Haas Racing who already receives chassis, engines and technical support from HMS. The report also says Budweiser will be coming along for the ride with Kahne to SHR in 2011.

If the report is true then this means Kevin Harvick’s free agent options will be limited as his contract expires at the end of the 2010 season. He was previously reported to be interested in joining Stewart-Haas.
